My son do not want to go further in study as he does not want to end up having a job like me

My son do not want to go further in study as he does not want to end up having a job like me

My son turns 16 today and he said he was considering leaving school which I wasn’t exactly happy about but here’s his reasons, he’s not enjoying school anymore as he’s bored, not challenged and the older he gets the less engaging some of the teachers are. He doesn’t want to go to College or Uni as he would rather work instead of getting into student debt that he would spend years paying off. I asked him what he wants to do and he said that he would like to learn a trade as he doesn’t want to end up like myself working in a bank or large corporation getting worried in case my job gets outsourced so I said I would support him but he can’t leave school unless he finds an apprenticeship in Joinery, Plumbing,Electrician etc. At 16 they think they know everything but listening to him he does have a point and learning a trade can lead to a successful career so I’m going to help my son find an apprenticeship.

Being NON-customer centric is the biggest threat to any business

Being NON-customer centric is the biggest threat to any business

“Netflix did not kill Blockbuster. Ridiculous late fees did.

Uber did not kill the taxi business. Limited taxi access and fare control did.

Apple did not kill the music industry. Being forced to buy full-length albums did.

Airbnb did not kill the hotel industry. Limited availability and pricing options did.

Amazon did not kill other retailers. Bad customer service and experience did.

Technology by itself is not the real disruptor.

Being NON-customer centric is the biggest threat to any business.

It takes balls to be successful in sales

It takes balls to be successful in sales

It takes balls. I had a call this morning with a young woman who is interviewing sales professionals and soliciting their advice. I’m pretty sure that she wasn’t ready for my answer to, “What does it take to be successful in sales?” I told her, “It takes balls.” She was silent for a moment, then she said, that is awesome. This may sound crass, but it is the absolute truth. It takes balls, gumption. You have to put yourself out there. If you want it….go get it. Warning: I am not trying to start a gender debate. These said balls are genderless. Genderless balls. Cheers to the best week yet!

A man with a big hear to give out the last penny but jobless

A man with a big hear to give out the last penny but jobless

Amazing thing happened yesterday – a young guy of around 30 years old gave me his last pound so I could pay the car park charge without having to find an ATM. “Thanks, have a good day”, I said, to which he replied, “Wish me luck; I’m job-hunting”… Intrigued, we got talking and it turns out he’s ex-British Army, very recently unemployed, and has a baby due in 10 weeks. He was handing out CVs around Leicester. And there he was, giving me his last pound so I didn’t have to go to the ATM having just parked. I believe I can repay him in a far better way than with a pound – I’d love to help him find a job to support his family… He’ll turn his hand to anything, but considers himself more physical and would love, ideally, to work outdoors. He’s run his own plastering business and won medals for his military service. He’s been looking after young people for the last 3 years and on top of this, he clearly has some admirable values. Are you looking for someone like this for your own team, or know someone who is? He definitely deserves the break and from what I’ve seen, will work hard. I have his CV – just comment with your contact details below or request a copy via https://lnkd.in/dVAcAJt. If not, please share! Thanks everyone! X
